Sky Sports Radio deploys 22 Nautel AM/FM Transmitters: 300 W – 12 kW

Sky Sports Radio network in Australia is deploying a new fleet of 22 Nautel AM and FM transmitters to replace aging equipment in both metropolitan and regional transmitter sites. Ranging in power levels from 300 watts to 12 kilowatts, the 22 unit transmitter order consists of:

  • Ten VS1 transmitters
  • Seven VS300 transmitters
  • One VS2.5 transmitter
  • One J1000 transmitter
  • One XR12 transmitter
  • Two XR6 transmitters

General Manager Innes Corp, Karen Olliver commented “Sky Sports Radio has long recognised the quality and reliability of Nautel engineering and in recent years was one of the first Australian broadcasters to introduce the ground breaking VS series FM transmitters to their network.”

Sky Sports Radio Chief Engineer Max Carter said “It was an easy decision to choose Nautel for our network replacement needs due to their excellent reputation for reliability and support. This is backed up by almost 30 years of firsthand experience with an early Nautel Ampfet series still delivering our primary Sydney metro service.”

John Abdnour (Nautel) and Max Carter (Sky Sports Radio) after placing order for 22 Nautel transmitters.

Nautel are world leaders in the development of highly efficient, innovative and intelligent broadcast transmitters and their popularity in Australia continues to grow with almost 100 new deployments in the past year alone.

“We’re very pleased to work with Sky Sports Radio and Innes Corp on this project,” said John Abdnour, Regional Manager Asia-Pacific for Nautel. “Nautel has supplied the solid-state RF needs and services of Australian broadcasters for decades. We are privileged to continue the tradition.”
