05: Netherlands - Radio Stad Amsterdam starts broadcasting on 240 meters. It will last until 31 December 1988 when it changes into Radio Noord-Holland on FM.

03: International Waters - Radio Caroline leaves 259 meter (1187 kHz) and moves to 953 kHz (around 319 m).

12: UK - Beacon Radio starts broadcasting on 989 kHz in Wolverhampton.
